The Boera Hisiubada Local Church, situated within the East Redscar Circuit, boasts a diverse array of ministries catering to various segments of its congregation. Each ministry plays a pivotal role in fostering spiritual growth, community engagement, and service within the church and beyond.
Collectively, these ministries at Boera Hisiubada Local Church work together to fulfill the church’s mission of making disciples, nurturing believers, and impacting the world for Christ. They embody the diverse talents, passions, and callings within the congregation, uniting individuals in their shared commitment to serving God and others, and these ministries are as follows.
A. Deacon Ministry
The Deacon Ministry is dedicated to serving the practical and spiritual needs of the church community. Deacons often provide assistance during worship services, offer pastoral care, and support the congregation in times of need. They serve as a vital link between the church leadership and its members.
The Deacon Ministry consists of 47 Deacons, and 45 out of 47 Deacons are accompanied by their spouses. Each deacon looks after a maximum of 15 Christian members (Ekalesia), and a minimum of 10.
The Deacon Ministry is led by Dk. Rei Seseka (Chairman), Dk. Jala Lavi (Secretary), and Dk. Toutu Willie (Treasurer). The Deacon Ministry has 8 groups with group leaders as follows:
1. Dk. Maraga Kaira (Group 1);
2. Dk. Goase Madaha (Group 2);
3. Dk. Raho Wari (Group 3);
4: Dk. Aua Dairi (Group 4);
5. Dk. Peter Avei (Group 5);
6. Dk. Lahui Morea (Group 6);
7. Dk. Oala Namona (Group 7); and
8. Dk. Mea Heagi (Group 8).
The Deacon Ministry works alongside the Boera Hisiubada Local Church Minister in carrying out pastoral activities.
B. Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Ministry is committed to empowering women spiritually, emotionally, and socially. Through regular gatherings, Bible studies, retreats, and service projects, this ministry creates a nurturing environment where women can grow in their faith, build strong relationships, and impact their families and communities positively.
The Ministry has a membership of over 200 women comprising both young and older women distributed under four groups. Wednesday is the Ministry’s worship day where each group takes turns in leading the day’s dedicated program as it is identified by the respective group leaders and our local advisor and Sina.
Our general meetings are held on a quarterly basis, with special meetings as they arise. The Annual boubou (Thanksgiving) starts in March and ends in November every year.
- Bible Study sessions facilitated by Rev. Hera Arua (former local pastor) on 6th September 2023; and
- Bible Quiz on 31st May 2023 won by the Women’s Ministry.
Educational
- Intergenerational leadership workshop facilitated by our Vice Chairlady Ek. Doreka Dai;
- Roles and Responsibilities workshop facilitated by Sina Hekoi Seneka; and
- Health Talk facilitated by a Health Worker.
Recreational
- Identifying Bible Heros (Women); and
- Family Feasting.
Service
- Fellowship with young male youths followed by a luncheon hosted by Women’s Fellowship;
- Bonding with widows of Boera followed by a luncheon;
- Visitation of sick people in Boera; and
- Feeding the school children of Boera Primary School.
Women’s Ministry 2023 Prayer Walks
Our prayer walks in 2023 were held on a quarterly basis and each group took turns as follows:
Quarter 1 – Devotional Group;
Quarter 2 – Educational Group;
Quarter 3 – Recreation; and
Quarter 4 – Not held due to ERC Women’s Ministry early closing.
Women’s Ministry Disaster Relief
The Women’s Ministry contributed PGK2,000 in cash-and-kind to victims of a fire that destroyed the entire house belonging to Ek. Tali and Eme Rebecca.
ERC Women’s Ministry Programs/Activities
Some of the East Redscar Circuit (ERC) Women’s Ministry program/activities undertaken in 2023 were:
- Week-long Leader’s workshop for ERC Executives and Leader’s Training held at Porebada Village April;
- 2023 ERC Clergy Wives and Laywomen Workshop held July and hosted by the Boera Hisiubada Local Church Women’s Ministry; and
- Provision of lunch for Redscar Secondary School students in September by the Boera Hisiubada Local Church Women’s Ministry.
WCPR Women’s Ministry Activities
- 17thAnniversary of the West Central Papua Region Women’s Ministry held at Bogi, West Redscar Circuit;
- World Day of Prayer; and
- Peace Building Workshop held at Bogi, West Redscar Circuit.
C. Men’s Ministry
The Men’s Ministry aims to equip men to become godly leaders in their families, workplaces, and communities. Through fellowship, discipleship, and outreach activities, men are encouraged to grow in their relationship with God, support one another, and actively engage in serving others. This ministry is newly established, and it is led by Dk. Iga Alewa (Chairman), Dk. Raho Wari (Secretary), and Ek. Jimmy Mea (Treasurer). The Men’s Ministry has 15 members comprising a good mix of both old and young men.
D. Children’s Ministry
The Children’s Ministry is focused on nurturing the faith of the youngest members of the congregation. Through age-appropriate teaching, creative activities, and events tailored to their needs, children are introduced to the love of Christ and encouraged to develop a personal relationship with Him.
The Children’s Ministry has 4 administration officers, 25 teachers, and 350+ children attending Sunday School on Sunday mornings from 7am to 9am. It is led by Ek. Iamuia Maraga (Superintendent), and Ek. Boio M Tani (Vice Superintendent).
E. Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry provides a supportive environment for teenagers to explore and deepen their faith. Through dynamic worship experiences, relevant teaching, small groups, and service opportunities, young people are empowered to live out their faith boldly and make a positive impact in their schools and communities.
F. Evangelism Ministry
The Evangelism Ministry is dedicated to spreading the message of the Gospel both within the church community and to those outside its walls. Through outreach events, evangelistic campaigns, community service projects, and personal witnessing, members of this ministry actively engage in sharing the love and truth of Jesus Christ with others.
The Evangelism Ministry consists of 40 members, and the Ministry is led by Ek. Moale Tali (Chairman), Dk. Eddie Enai (Vice Chairman), Dk. H. Koani John (Secretary), and Ek. Asi Gele (Treasurer). Currently, the Ministry is blessed to have a Lay Evangelist, Ek. Lohia John. Another 2 will graduate in June 2024. They are Dk. Eddie Enai, and wife Dk. H. Koani John.
The membership of the Evangelism Ministry is divided into 4 groups, and these are Lalokau (Love), Moale (Joy), Maino (Peace), and Haheauka (Patience). Indoor fellowships are held every Tuesday from 7:30pm to 9:00pm, and outreach is held during the weekends. Youths and children receive evangelism training as there are a number of them within the Ministry. Evangelism missions are also conducted within the village and within both the East Redscar Circuit and West Central Papua Region.
G. Boera Primary School Chaplaincy
United Church Reverend Vani Dobi is our Chaplain at the local Boera Primary School and leads the chaplaincy activities.
